From 23 June to 27 August 2017, the 95th Opera Festival will be held in the Arena of Verona, with five operas and three more super events.
On 48 evenings, the five emotional operas Nabucco, Aida, Rigoletto, Madama Butterfly and Tosca as well as the memorable dance evening with Roberto Bolle and Friends, the Gala of Plácido Domingo and Beethoven‘s 9th Symphony will be performed.
On 23 June, the 95th edition of the Verona Opera Festival Arena opens with a new stage setting of Giuseppe Verdi’s Nabucco. From 24 June, for eight evenings, it is the turn of the futuristic and visionary version of Aida by the celebrated Catalan artistic team La Fura dels Baus. From 1 July, Rigoletto will be performed for 5 evenings. Directed by Ivo Guerra, stage setting by Raffaele del Savio, costumes by Carla Galleri, orchestral director Julian Kovatchev. From 8 July for six evenings there will be Madama Butterfly, direction and stage setting by Franco Zeffirelli, costumes by Oscar winner Emi Wada and orchestra direction by Jader Bignamini.
On 17 July the famous ballet dancer Roberto Bolle presents a show with the most famous international dancers ranging from classic to contemporary dance.
Another great protagonist on stage: Plácido Domingo with Antología de la Zarzuela on 21 July. The master of international lyric music will interpret the great arias of Spanish folk tradition.
For 5 evenings, starting on 5 August, spectators can enjoy Tosca with stage design by Hugo de Ana and orchestral direction by Antonino Fogliani.
A highlight will be Daniel Oren performing the IX Symphony of Beethoven.
