Below is a special top ten – an overview of the Christmas markets in the Lake Garda area in December:


  • Arco
    Arco is among the most impressive Christmas markets on the northern shore of Lake Garda. It is well worth a visit because of its beautiful stands and various side events that are fun for both young and old. This year’s Christmas market is held from 21 November 2014 to 6 January 2015. To mark the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, a firework display is held on 7 December.


  • Verona
    Verona celebrates Christmas with decorations and illuminations along the old town’s streets and Nuremberg’s traditional Christmas market, the so-called “Christkindlesmarkt”, in the Piazza dei Signori. Visitors can purchase various handicrafts, the typical German “Glühwein” (mulled wine) and other German products such as “Lebkuchen” (gingerbread) and “Stollen” (fruit cake) pastries and rolls with cold cuts. The Veronese Christmas market is held nearby, in Cortile Mercato Vecchio. From 21 November to 28 December 2014.


  • Bussolengo Flover
    Bussolengo’s Christmas market is held in the central Piazza XXVI Aprile where the traditional stands and an ice skating rink provide entertainment. The setting is illuminated by the lights of a large Christmas tree and nativity scene. Just outside of Bussolengo’s old town, Flover’s Christmas Village opens its gates like every year, presenting animated Christmas displays, sparkling decorations, Santa Claus’s helpers and Christmas elves. Artisans showcase their work.


  • Salò
    The well-known town on the western shore of Lake Garda is illuminated and decorated for the season. Various thematic events are held in this unique atmosphere: social events range from traditional Christmas markets and concerts to choir performances. Like every year, Saint Lucy comes to town with her assistant Castaldo and her little donkeys, handing out sweets and candies to all the children. New Year’s Eve will be celebrated in the piazza with a firework display. 


  • Bardolino
    “From the 6th to the 6th” is the title of the traditional Christmas festivities in Bardolino. A Christmas market is held along the lakeside of this beautiful town on Lake Garda. Here, visitors can find various gift ideas. They can also go ice-skating on the ice skating rink set up for the occasion, and warm up and enjoy a hot beverage from the food stall in the festival dome next to it.


  • Malcesine
    “Christmas in Malcesine” is the title of a series of events held in the beautiful town on Lake Garda from 6 December 2014 to 6 January 2015. The traditional Christmas market offers products and giftware of every type and there are various family events. Younger vistors can meet Santa Claus and his assistants in Malcesine castle.


  • Garda
    Garda’s old town and lakeside are lined with Christmas decorations and lights up to 6 January 2015, giving the town a truly festive atmosphere. The traditional wooden huts of Garda’s Christmas market provide the backdrop for a varied family entertainment programme. 


  • Toscolano Maderno
    Maderno’s Christmas market is held along the lakeside from 13 December 2014 to 6 January 2015. There are also stands and entertainment in the streets of this small town on the western shore of Lake Garda.  


  • Lazise
    Lazise’s traditional Christmas market is again held in its old town from 7 December 2014. Here, visitors can find various gift ideas among the handicrafts, wine and food on offer. A nativity scene will be showcased in the San Nicolò church close to the city centre until 31 January 2015.


  • Desenzano del Garda
    A beautiful Christmas market is set up in Piazza Cappelletti on every December weekend from 10 am to 7 pm.  The city of Desenzano also celebrates Christmas with various events for children, but also adults, among them choir performances, music and other entertainment. This creates a magical atmosphere on the shore of Lake Garda.
