The Santa Barbara Basilica in Mantua will reopen on 21 March 2015. Visitors can now admire four restored paintings.
The palatine Santa Barbara basilica is part of the ducal palace. The religious building, which was commissioned by the Gonzaga family, has a rather unique architectural structure. The collection of paintings inside is now enriched by four unidentified portraits. These were restored by the San Paolo institutes, which cooperate with the diocese in the sacristy’s renovation. The Santa Barbara basilica is open to the public, who has the chance to explore these faces from the past, from Saturday, 21 March 2015.
