Mantua kicks off the new year as the Italian Capital of Culture 2016!
2016 is the year of the city of Mantua, one of the most important urban centres of the Italian Renaissance during the reign of the House of Gonzaga. The victory of the Lombard city over the rivalling cities located all over Italy has already been announced in October. Mantua, situated south of Lake Garda, promises a packed programme of cultural events. The Italian ministery of culture and tourism, MiBACT, also provides financial support.
Luckily, the new year has just begun. We still have twelve months to explore Mantua, the Italian Capital of Culture 2016!
