The “Chiare” was developed in Lazise just a few years ago and is since then has been one of the most popular aperitifs. It is a cool, coral pink sparkling wine with a fruity raspberry, woodland strawberry and cherry aroma (which is also typical of Chiaretto from Bardolino) as well as a flowery elderflower and mint aroma. The final alcoholic strength is less than5 per cent.

Lazise’s farmers produce this new aperitif, which has managed to win over even the most demanding consumers in a short time. Indeed, the town of Lazise founded the municipal designation of origin (denominazione comunale d’origine, De.Co.) to promote local products and to help producers of the territory in using them for the making of premium products.

Recipe for the Chiare De.Co. :

• Bardolino chiaretto sparkling wine 6/10
• elderberry syrup 1/10
• soda water 3/10 (or sparkling water)
• fresh mint
• ice cubes
